Your phone is the thing that makes an Aruba trip easy: the map to Baby Beach, the WhatsApp thread with the boat captain, the ED card confirmation, the photo you want to send home before dinner. The worry is what it costs to keep it working. Roaming on a US plan can add up fast, and hotel WiFi rarely reaches the beach chair. An eSIM is the simplest fix we know, and Holafly is the one we use and link to on this site, so here is how its Aruba plan actually works, using only what Holafly states on its own Aruba page (checked October 29, 2026).
What an Aruba eSIM Is
An eSIM is a digital SIM that lives inside your phone instead of on a plastic card. You buy it online, install it with a QR code or the Holafly app, and switch your phone's data to it when you land. Your regular SIM stays in place, so your number keeps working for calls and texts if you want it to, and WhatsApp keeps your usual number and chats.
Two things to check before you buy: your phone has to support eSIM (recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models do, and Holafly has a compatibility list), and it has to be unlocked by your carrier.

How Holafly Unlimited Data Works in Aruba
Holafly sells its Aruba plan as Unlimited Data: you pick the number of days, not a number of gigabytes. Holafly lists Digicel as its network on the island, with 5G where available plus 4G and LTE.
A few details worth knowing from Holafly's own fine print:
- The clock starts when you connect. The plan activates once the eSIM connects to a supported network in Aruba, and a day runs a full 24 hours from that moment.
- Data only. The Aruba eSIM has no local phone number. Calls and messages go through apps like WhatsApp.
- Hotspot sharing is capped. You can share data with other devices, up to 1 GB per day of the plan (a 7-day plan includes up to 7 GB of sharable data).
- Fair usage. In rare cases the local network may slow speeds for up to one day to manage traffic, then it resets.
- Data roaming must be on. Holafly says to switch data roaming on for the eSIM line, and that this adds no extra charge once the Holafly eSIM is set up correctly. Leave your home SIM's roaming off if you want to avoid your own carrier's charges.
What Always On Means
Every Holafly eSIM comes with Always On: 1 GB of backup data every month at no cost, usable in 150+ countries, as long as you keep the eSIM installed on your phone. The allowance resets to 1 GB every 30 days and does not roll over. Think of it as a safety net for the gap after your plan ends, not a replacement for the plan itself.
Aruba Plan Prices (as Listed on October 29, 2026)
Holafly's Aruba page listed these prices in US dollars when we checked. Prices can change, so treat this as a guide and confirm on the page before you buy.
- 3 days: $26.90
- 5 days: $37.50
- 7 days: $60.90
- 10 days: $70.90
- 15 days: $82.50
- 30 days: $163.90
Holafly also offers plan lengths from 1 to 30 days, so you can match the plan to your exact trip.
Where Coverage Gets Thin
Holafly is upfront that coverage is reliable across most populated and tourist areas, and can be limited or unstable in natural areas: parts of Arikok National Park, the north coast, around the Conchi Natural Pool, and on boats. That matches what we see on the island. If you are heading out on an Arikok day or the Natural Pool, download your offline map before you leave the hotel.

We live in Aruba and vet every spot ourselves, share your dates and we'll build the rest.
How We Set It Up
- Buy the plan a few days before you fly and check that your phone is unlocked and eSIM compatible.
- Install it at home on WiFi, because installation needs an internet connection. Keep the QR code handy, or use the Holafly app.
- When you land at the airport, switch your data line to Holafly, turn on data roaming for that line, and you are online for the taxi ride and your ED card check.
Is It Worth It?
If you only need a map and messages, hotel WiFi plus Always On may be enough for a short stay. If you rely on your phone all day, for navigation in a rental car, video calls, or working remotely, a fixed-price Unlimited Data plan is the calmer option than open-ended roaming.
